100!

I am starting to get the hang of this blogging business a bit more. It is fun but so much more difficult than I expected. I am much more understanding now when I am waiting for a new post on any of my favourite blogs.

This is my 100th post. Thank you to my faithful readers. And thank you especially to those who leave comments or have become a follower. It is much easier for me to keep it up when I am getting a response from you.
Here's to the 100s of posts yet to come.

The First Movie Ever Made

This is from 1888. There's not a much there but it is an important moment in the history of cinema.

Salad Invention

This is my dinner and I thought I would share it because I am particularly pleased with this one. I eat a lot of salads and, though I do love lettuce, sometimes I like to make them purely "goodies", you know, the stuff you dig for when you're serving yourself.
In this incarnation I used:

• red pepper
• green pepper
• avocado
• dill pickles
• artichoke hearts
• feta cheese

And dressed it with some of the oil from the artichokes, balsamic vinegar, fresh ground pepper, and sea salt.

Delicious.

Artists Who Inspire Me - Nick Bantock

I have decided to start a series that features artists who I am inspired by or who have influenced my work. If you have any suggestions of a better title for the series, please leave them in the comments.

I figure I had better kick it off with Nick Bantock since I am doing a paper on him for school right now. I have been a fan of his for years now. He is the author of the well known Griffin and Sabine books.
His work is largely in the form of collages that incorporate many different media. He uses a lot of ephemera such as historical documents, stamps, old photographs, and maps. The most exciting thing about his books is that they are told entirely through letters and postcards which are actually in the book. You see the front of the envelope on one page, then you turn and there is the back of the envelope that you can open and take the letter out to read.
He is originally from England but moved to BC in 1988. He now lives on Saltspring Isl. where he has a gallery called The Forgetting Room to display his work and hold art workshops.
If you have not already read his, books I highly recommend them.
